Brake Dust

For those of you currently driving an E70 how quickly do your wheels get dirty?

I had a 2001 X5 and ended up replacing the OEM pads with Hawk pads after about a month because I just couldn't take the dust.

I know the OEM pads are soft and our cars do stop great but I will say the Hawk pads felt just as good and cut the dust done significantly.

On the 01 the pad swap was a breeze, has anyone done this on their e70?

Charlie

The E70 brakes are great...takes at least 5 minutes after cleaning the wheels before they start getting dirty again.

I'm also interested, I haven't found any aftermarket reduced dust pads for the E70 yet. Are there yet?

I'm getting tired of the weekly wash. Takes about a half hour to get them clean.

While I dont have an E70, I have had excellent success with Axxis Deluxe both in terms of stopping power and nearly dust free.

FWIW..

You get a fine coating of break dust (not thick enough to make the wheels look dirty but can definity notice the build up) within I'd say a week. Not to bad though, I like cleaning my honey combs.

Although I have never used these myself. EBC has pads available in low dusting. EBC Greenstuff Street Sport. It has the part # on their webpage.

I have checked multiple sources and the only afermarket pads I could find a listing was for EBC as a fellow poster pointed out.

Bavarian Motorsport advised that the E70 utilizes a unique setup and is not a carry over from any prior model and they do not carry any aftermarket pads as of yet. For now I'll be stocking up on mequirs hot wheels.

i bought (not installed yet) kleenwheels dust covers.
i know some people are wary of them but i have used them on 4
cars for a long time (bimmers and benz) with no ill effects.
they are avail for the 18" 5 spoke (219 i think?)
