Angry 2007 X5 3.osi transmission problems?!?

My 2 month old X5 hesitates when it tries to shift out of 1st gear and back for service a 2nd time (been there for 12 days so far) for this problem. It almost feels like the car is going to die and then it finally kicks in and the car jumps.

The service department claims that no one else has this problem but I cannot imagine that is correct. The 1st time I was told it was a control fan problem and took 5 days to fix. This time I was told it is a driver problem and they have to get the part (which was not available) from Germany.

If I am lucky I will have the car back by the end of the week.

Anyone else experience this problem or heard about it???

I experienced somthing similar when mine was new...but after several thousand miles it seemed to work its way out. My transmission is great now at 10k miles.

Is your vehicle broken in yet? Are you aware that you have a drive by wire gas pedal? Mine took awhile to get used to, but once I got the hang of it I love it. It tends towant you to be more aggresive on the pedal.

Many people have had similar issues. More often then not it is a software issue. Check with the dealer to see what software version has been installed. The most recent software version is v27.1. Perhaps the car has been on the lot and no software upgrade was downloaded. I believe there is a Service Bulletin (SIB) that addresses this as well.

I have approx. 2,000 miles on it.

How many miles does it need to break in?

When the BMW service tech test drove my car and was able to duplicate the problem he did not say this was due to being broken in.

But thanks for qucik reply and the suggestion.

Thanks for the reply. My car was ordered back in May and picked up on 7/30/07. It has been in for service several times already. Do they normally update it automatically or do I have to ask for it? Also, do you know when the latest update came out?

No you usually need to request an update due to a specific problem. Generally, they will not even perform an update unless you complain about a specific issue. Before you ask for one make sure you give them a good reason to update. This board has a wealth of information on what issues are affected for each update.

Good Luck.

You mean they're going to send a German driver to take your car for a spin?!

I'm j/k and since I have nothing to add, I just wanted to say hi to a fellow Long Islander... which dealership are you dealing with?

If I could only be so lucky.

I leased the car through Rallye.

Which dealership do you use?

^ I have plans to purchase through Rallye, test drove there but haven't pulled the trigger just yet (waiting on the 3.0sd, ugh). Maybe this is better for a PM, but what do you think of their salespeople & service staff ? I already see that they're pretty slow with fixes...
