Uneven front disks wear?.....

Guys, I have a 07 4.8, with only 2 weeks and roughly 1,500KM on the clock. I just noticed that the front discs developed a deep groove in the middle of the
radius (center to outer edge) deep enough to make me think if it was designed as such or there is a serious defect in the brake pads that creates this. Funny thing, this is on both sides at exactly the same distance and depth. The rear discs though are perfectly smooth and wear evenly on all the radius. Any ideas?.....

That does not seem right. Mine are smooth. Looks like a visit to the dealer for you.

That doesn't sound right.

I have a 3.0 with 1K miles and the disk is smooth throughout all 4 wheels.

Given the price of rotors and the limited mileage on his car then it would be wise to draw it to the dealer attention as a possible manufacturing defect (if in fact it is) rather than normal wear and tear after many more miles I would think ?

Dealer replaced front rotors and pads. The groove was so deep and wide on one side (driver), that raised eybrows! They told me they'll followup with BMW.

Also they fixed the steering wheel dead center position. It was slightly tilted to the side while driving perfectly straight. FYI for Active steering owners, this is no longer a mechanical job (micro adjustment of control arms or repositioning of the wheel). It is done electronically ie. software related repair! They hooked the car in the computer, run a couple steering locks, left - right. and bingo! in 10 min. job done! I wonder what will happen though if electronics go bizerk in this car while driving high speed on the highway....

All in all an excellent experience. Droped the car in the morning, no appointment, had it back next day eve.!!!
