I thought this is what is ambient lighting. These pics are of the E92 interior from the press release.

From what I read on other posts the ambient lighting is only available with the premium package and cannot be ordered as a stand alone option.

I've got orange LEDs inside my 2007 X5 4.8i. They give the interior a very faint but noticeable warm glow at night. If I put my hand overhead near the SOS button, I can see where the orange LEDs are. I haven't looked to see if there are any orange LEDs in the doors like in the E92 photos above. I suspect the E92 has them in the doors while the X5 has them overhead.
The pathway lighting has to do with the headlights. And although the exterior door handles have white/blue lights, as shown in the photos on X5FX's website, I don't know if those are considered part of the ambient lighting package. Ambient lighting is just one of those extras that makes you appreciate why a luxury car feels different. |

The ambient package (on the E70) is amber lights in each interior door handle, front and rear door pockets, and the white LED's under the exterior door handles. I think there has been discussion before that non-premium pack guys do not have any of these (including the exterior ones on the outside door handles).
