In some country versions, there might be a lock ... itīs to make it harder to steal the E70...

Itīs written in the german manual, so there should be a lock in some countries ... Maybe itīs only available in Europe

Possibly. You can look in 5 seconds to know for yourself, but I saw a export model at the plant (not sure of the country) a few months ago and it was in rework. I know it did not have it becauseI was looking at the differences in the interior compared to ours (it had aluminum trim, which I have never actually seen in the US at a dealer, much like a no sunroof car. Those are pretty rare in the states). The little rubber tray was not there and it looked just like mine as far as the release is concerned. Again, you should be able to look easily to see. The only odd thing is I would think the US would be the area you would need the lock for theft prevention

Maybe the lock is an option ... The X5 (E53) is the most often stolen car in Europe, the insurance companyies donīt allow you to go to specific countries (if you go and car is gone the will be no refund). and the insurance rates are at the same level as for a Porsche 911....

By the way I ordered a aluminium trim car with no sunroof

Regards and so long

There is a car wash function built in:

you enter the car wash, engine running normally, step on the brakes then you switch to Neutral when the transport system of the car wash got your car and release the park brake. Leave the key in the slot, otherwise the P will activate. You have 30 Minutes of "Neutral" now. all fellows having keyless go, the key has to be in the slot, otherwise no Neutral....
Then you may turn of the engine...

Give it a try first before you go to the car wash....

So long
