How to get IS sound on 4.8i?

I want to get a a meatier sound out of my E70. Ideally I dont want to change the tips cause I like them. Could I get E53 4.8 IS sound just by changing the mid-sections, resonators etc? What aftermarket exhausts are available now?

yeah i miss the E53 IS sound.. Its SOOOOOO nice....that mid-low tone purrrr is amazing.. I was kind of disappointed on the E70 sound but its not too bad i guess. But the E53 was really mesmerizingly good. Sorry to digress but one of the first commercials for teh new X5 (its the veiw from the front of the car i think the Nürburgring) and it was an e70 commercial with e53 sound in the back ground. MAn I loved that sound. plus when i was test driving. I hope they bring back the sound on a later model.

watch and listen..

p.s.. sorry i don't know how to get that sound on the E70.

You could try removing the resonator - it may or may not end up sounding good, but for sure an increase in volume. Cheapest option short of getting a new muffler mentioned in the post above.

i feel like its not the same grawl from the source (engine).. arn't the engines acutally different? (i think the engine power output numbers are different between E53 4.8IS and E7- 4.8i)

Trust me, its just the exhaust. Different cars in BMW range sound very different even when they have the same engine.

Well I think 4.8iS and E70 4.8i are two completely different engines. While the iS engine is an evolution of 4.6iS developed for BMW by Alpina(!) and has been produced in very low volumes and for E53 only, the E70 4.8i is the standard BMW engine from 750i which has been developed inhouse from 4.4 and is being produced in larger volumes.
Of course, the exhaust system is different too as the 4.8iS was a semi "M" model with more agressive note.
