any side by side pics of x5 with and without running boards??

i'm trying to decide if i should order them or not... can't determine if it really looks better or not.... and don't want to lose any ground clearance.

thoughts? pics?

If you are after the looks, go for it.
Its only $300 and makes the X look stunning.
If you also care for functionality, convinience, forget about them.

Getting your pants dirty when getting out, keeping them clean is a serious issue for me, I decided against them

I think it's the equivalent of getting bigger wheels. Looks better, but worse ride, more maintenance etc...

I think it looks better w/o out them especially with black. I think the chrome boards are too much of a contrast with the black plus it makes the car look longer. I remember seeing some black ones w/o running boards on autotrader or ebay or try cars.com.

I think that the X5, in any color, looks MUCH better without the boards --- but it's obviously a personal choice...

I can't agree with linh811 at all --- who equates them with having larger wheels. I'm getting the larger wheels

I like the way they look, but didn't get them for 2 main reasons.

1 - small SUV's like the X5 really don't need a step to get in/out of, it just seems to make the car harder to get in/out of.

2- wear concerns

the style of the BMW running boards is kind of like a trademark for them
