I had a loan car from Lexus last week and it had the same issue. They had stuck velcro around the plastic section of the buckle (the soft part of velcro) and it was both un-offensive and effective. It will not stop the exposed metal hitting your B pillar but it may help.

I agree that it just shouldn't be an issue in the first place.

I had mentioned this some time back. My dealer has replaced them with no problem, but I am sure it will continue to happen and have to be replaced again. The real fix is for BMW to make those panels out of the soft touch material like on the console/dash/door panels, but costs might make this unlikely.

Good call drod. This should prevent the buckle from hitting the b pillar. I just noticed the dents but it's a good thing I have black interior. I can barely notice them but I know it's there so it's starting to bother me now. I know this is a design flaw but I have to do something. I'll try and get my SA to replace the b pillar then I'll purchase the holders.

Dealer told me that if you have the electric headrest these will not work. They had to call BMWNA to find out the fitment for the Comfort Seats and this is what BMW told them.

forget it!! i just spoke to a few that have the seat belt holders and all said they snap apart easily... not a sturdy piece of plastic... breaks right off after a short period of use...

doesn't seem worth it!!

velcro or some other material to wrap the metal piece may be better!!

Why not? I know Audi uses its headliner material halfway down the A- and B-pillars, and I'm sure Merc does something similar with its high-end models. It's not inconceivable for BMW to do this.

Or they could make the E92's robot arm standard across the range... not very economical, but classy and entertaining. And it will stop the problem.

I guess I should have been more detailed. What I meant was the cost to retrofit all the 07 and 08's already out there would be costly, so even if BMW starts making the 08 or 09 models with the better panels, I think they will still offer the old style to replace ours under warranty to keep costs down.
