Thanks for your quick reply.
Depends what you're getting painted... if it's the plastic bumpers, it'll be less time because of the material that is being painted. Just ask them about chipping and stuff... they should give you a guarantee of at least a year. What are you having painted?

calix5fan: Got it, I will try and ask if they will give me any or some guarantees with the paint job, hopefully they do.

What is being painted: F/R bumpers, L/R side steps, door moldings, plastic fenders, orange reflectors, and aerodynamic kit.

Thanks again for your help and quick replies.

calix5fan:

Sorry to bother you, I had a quick question, I wanted my front bumper orange reflectors painted, but they are having difficulties removing it and the shop is afraid they may break it. I was hoping you had an idea how to remove them. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

That reflector was painted without removing it... they taped up the sides and sprayed it. Make sure you get a guarantee on paint, my bumper is chipping / peeling off 1 week later! They agreed to redo it for me but they could've been asses about it too. Obviously 1 week is ridiculous and they were ashamed when I called with the complaint. What a headache

Thank you for the quick reply. I think I will just leave the reflectors alone for now, I do not want them painting the reflectors on the bumper, I am afraid that there will be overspray.

Sorry to hear about the problem, but good thing they will take it back in and redo it. Just a hastle to bring it back and not have the vehicle.

Would you happen to know how they prepped your bumpers? On mine they did the following (I am pretty sure you already know, just wanted to share the information just in case.):
1. Apply adhesive on plastic parts, then sand it down
2. Flexible coat, then sand it down
3. Primer, then sand it down
4. Base coat
5. Final coat
6. A few coats of clear
7. Wet sand and buff

I am suppose to pick it up today or tomorrow, I will let you know how it goes.

Good luck on your vehicle, please let me know what happens. Thanks again for all the information and help you have provided.

In case any of you guys didnt know Bimmian do prepainted reflector covers front and rear for the E70.

Colours seem to cover all available, they appear to just pop in on the existing though I can't be certain.

I just got one of the painted license plate holders and it looks great. I think your car is space grey like mine. The paint they used matches perfectly from what I can tell.
