Your forgot the biggest part, heated seats which are great as is the steering wheel that alone is worth the package IMO.

If you are going to get an X5 with that few options, I might consider getting something other than an X5.
I personally couldn't live with out Premium, or Cold Weather, or PDC. Sure, you get the driving experience no matter what, but a bare bones X5 is worse than say a moderatly loaded FX35. Just some ideas.

If that's his budget, an MDX would be much more worthwhile.

True, but he's pretty set on an X5. I don't really know their price limit, but I'm sure its not going to be like, $60k. For years he's wanted to have an X5 but there was no reason for him to ditch their minivan. For all practical purposes he doesn't need an X5, but that's what he wants.
I suggested cold weather because it's the only way to get the heated steering wheel. While they usually do not park on the street, their garage isn't heated. Rear climate, I thought wasn't necessary because they have one kid, and she's like 24 already and fairly independent. More than likely, the rear seats won't be used at all. I'm not so sure on suggesting a 2007 since there are first year bugs.......... |

late-2007 should be fine....bugs don't magically go away after the model year ends. I would nix Comfort Access, and see if you can squeeze premium in there if possible. Best bet is just looking at the lowest priced X5 on the lot. Would he get a CPO E53 with low miles?

I go for used 07 - many deals out there...go into various dealers and see what they can do.

![]() A "real" X5 is at least $55k+ territory, even then it's bare bones..... I totally agree with the MDX/FX suggestions. Hell, mine was $70k+ and still feel like I'm missing some options

Agreed, heated seats are important and my X5 on order has heated seats $500, but I saved $400 on the steering wheel, ski bag and headlight washers, to me that was wasted money. Cold weather cost $900 I believe
