iPod menu - Do iDrive screens vary? UPDATED

I have the 6FL option on my X. When I use my iPod and select a playlist I get the list of songs shown on the menu screen I can then scroll down and select.

However when I switch off and get back in the car the default screen just shows the song playing and nothing else.If I want that list again I have to select playlists, then chose the playlist which then brings up the scroll list.

My X is currently in the dealers having an upgrade to 27.2 and some other warranty work. (Adaptive drive {though thats being dealt with by the V27.2 upgrade} and paintwork)

The courtesy car I have is a 325i Convertible (Hardtop) The issue I described above does not happen. When I switch off the car and then switch back on after returning the default screen shows the entire playlist as previously selected when last in the car.

My question is to you guys is... does your X do the same as mine or the same as the 325i. If the latter is there something I need to select on the menu to do this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Whoa...that's some loaner!!! I hope my dealership treats me as well. This is my first BMW, so I don't know how they do it...but now they have certain expectations to live up to!

Pete,

I have a X5 4.8 and my car acts like your loaner does. When I get back into the car, it returns to where I was - showing the playlist complete.

My E92 335i reverts to the "Now Playing" playlist (i.e., just the last song playing is displayed) when I turn the car off.. It's really annoying.

Thanks guys for replying, Now the question I have is why the variation? It is annoying. Is it something in the set up? Surely it cant be dependent on the specific car....

I have the same problem in my X5.

It is going in tomorrow for a software upgrade and winter wheels and tires to be installed.

I hope the software fixes this issue because it really does suck!

Josh,

Thanks, seems your the exception rather than the rule here, do you know if you set that up on the iDrive, if its possible or does it just do that?

Pete

I just got my '08 and noticed the same display issue today. My x5 was just reprogrammed so wonder if the software upgrades mentioned above will address problem.
