My friend's deal on a '08 X5 4.8i

Last week, a friend of mine called me up and said his parents were ready to order a '08 X5 4.8i, but wanted a referral. So of course, I was happy to provide them with one, and after listening thru the options they wanted to get, I was like "oh ok cool, let me know how it goes on Saturday"

So today, I called him up and we chatted a bit on their deal and how it turned out. They ordered:

2008 X5 4.8i
Space Gray/Gray Nevada Lthr w/Bamboo wood trim (the latter two were my influence)
Technology Package
Sport Package
Running Boards
Rear Climate Package.

The earliest day it could arrive is Dec. 1st. He told me they negotiated it to $60,000. I just checked the invoice price, and it's actually right around $58,100; meaning they paid $1900 above invoice and $2675 below MSRP.

Now since I'm used to working with X3s and 3-series, I think $1900 is a pretty mediocre deal on a new BMW. But maybe its not.........thoughts?

Not bad but they could have done better. Seems like some people on here have been getting better deals (including myself...)

here in ny it's been pretty tough... they're in great demand and it seems everyone's got one!!

tried three reputable dealers known for customer services, etc... and they all refused to budge past $2500 off MSRP!! (which is where i ultimately placed my order..)

glad everyone is doing better... i actually think i did Ok (and I had him throw in front/rear mat sets, and titanium grill set) plus i got my trade-in number and very low finance rate!

i'm happy!

Just ordered mine last friday for 2008 x5 4.8 in alpine white with foll packages:

sport package with 20 inch wheel
active ventilated seat package
3 stage heated front seats
premium package
technology package
running boards
3rd row seat
hd radio

It came out to be $63,240 plus $900 above invoice and also included are flooor mats, of course to be added later on tax, doc fee etc.
I think I did pretty good considering its only $900 above invoice.

LEE22,

Do you mind if I ask who/were you ordered yours from? I'm up here in Portland, OR and they don't seem to want to come down much off of $2500 above invoice.

Do you guys go in negotiating an amount above invoice or just ask for a certain amount off MSRP? Which works better with dealers?
