discounts on 07 models

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum, and a prospective X5 owner. A local dealership has a few 07's (3.0 and 4.8.) Should I expect a substantial discount on the 07's compared to an 08 with the same major specs? What has people's experience been. It would be nice to pick one up without waiting for a custom order too.

Cant tell you what you should pay for it, but consider that 08's prices have not gone up at all AND now 08 will have a free Panorama sunroof which in turn means cheaper premium package.
Premium packages for 2008 cost $1300 less on 3.0 and $900 less on 4.8
so equivalently equipped 2007 X5 should cost less just to start with.
Dont forget you are taking a one year old car (thing is there are no miles on it) but if you decide to sell it in 3 years, it will be a 4 year old car.
Do your math and then decide if 07 is worth while for you.

There will not be a huge discount as BMW is having no problem moving the E70. You may as well buy the 08 model, especially if you can afford to load out a 07.

no significant discounts are currently being offered from what i've seen...

talked to a few dealers and they are all pushing their 07s with similar pricing and average discounts... (which you can get on the 08 as well)

even the older model 06s fully equipped are selling high and not that far from 07/08 prices..

if you really want one, and you're financing it or leasing it anyway, get the 08!!

Thanks for your thoughts. I guess the only argument for an 07 would be the immediate gratification from hauling one from the showroom, if possible, paid for.

You'll pay the price in a year's worth of depreciation by taking out an '07 versus an '08. There aren't big discounts available on existing ones, so the '08 is likely a wiser choice. My friend ordered theirs a couple weeks ago and expects it in early Dec, so there shouldn't be a huge wait.

Thanks for your advice. Just out of curiosity, what would forum members consider as a discount that would make it worth while to pick an 07 ?

The other thing to consider would be that when the diesels come out, would resale value of the 4.8 in particular fall even more.

One thing I've noticed is that BMWNA is pretty clever about moderating production to match demand for the X5. I used to live in Greenville/Spartanburg where the plant is and it was well known that they did this.
