I test drove both before buying the X5. Back and forth at least a half a dozen times and it became very clear what my decision should be. I would have to agree with gresch "I coulden't see paying for a VW when for a couple grand more you can get the BMW". Now add the warranty which you will not get with the VW and...... Well you get the point.

Electric Blue is on a distinguished road
We have a V10 Touareg at home and I'm adding a X53.0sd to the fleet, losing the LandCruiser... The Touareg is an awesome Car, better value and less pretentious than the X5. Brilliantly finished and we have had next to no problems with it.

The X5 is the next best luxury AWD on the market to my mind, the potential with the zippier Twin Turbo , but MUCH better fuel economy than the V10 won me over.

Definately worth testing both Cars in my mind.

i don't think I have been there half that with my BMW in FOUR years!
hmmm, maybe the coffee and donuts were good???
