Headlight protection film...where to buy for E70?

Where can I buy this for the E70? I see it for the E53 at some vendors, but not the E70.

TIA,
Jeremy

I was looking at clear bra's for my new X5. Decided against it but thought that you might like to know that I came across a number of posters that recommended against using any protection film on headlights because of the haze effect on the lights; it yellows over time; and that there is a chance that the film might melt.

Thanks for responding.

I've had stongard light protection film on my E46M3 for 5 years and 3M on my E36M3 for 3 years. The 3M hasn't colored...yet..other than it's normal light yellowish shade compared to clearshield. After 5 years the stongard has a yellowish tinge to it, but even that looks better than pitted headlights. And you can only tell it's yellowish after removing. While on, you could barely tell. I just bought some replacement film for about $60 and it's clear again....cracked headlights are ~$400 a piece for my M3 and probably more for the E70. I do a lot of highway driving, so it's a benefit for my situation....I'm just suprised I can't find any....sponors?

i got mine done while getting the stoneguard (3M) for the mirror, fender, hood, and bumper. fog and headlights were about 100 dollars on top of the price and i think it's worth it.

argentox5 and y5choi,

You've both obviously had more experience with this protection than I have. When I spoke to an installer yesterday, he showed me a car that had the 3M clearshield on the headlights --- it was an old installation. I could not believe how discolored it was -- the headlight covers were gray. Unfortunately, he had no newer samples to show me.

3M and Clearshield are different manufacturers of film. I'm not sure if Stongard uses 3M or makes thier own. A LOT has to do with the installation/installer. It's not as easy as just peeling and sticking. They use some type of chemical to ensure long term adhesion. Check out my stongard film I've had on my M3 for 5 years...

[edit] You can actually make out the stongard film on the body as well. My stongard installer was only average. The guy who installed clearshield on my E70 was a perfectionist and did a fabulous job. Clearshield also covers more of the hood.
