what are you talking about? .... on my 2002 x5 if i had the AC off when i turned the car off.... then it stayed off even when restarting the car. if i had it on, it stayed on.

are you saying in the new x5's the AC button lights up and stays on EVERY time you start the car, no matter what the setting was before?? are you sure you aren't switching keys as i think this can be set to the key programming.

That should only happen if you left it on Auto with A/C before you stopped the engine. My A/C does not come on everytime I start my X5?

From my experience, the A/C light is on whenever the climate control is set to Auto (i.e., the green light in the center of the driver side knob is on). So the A/C will automatically be on when you start the car assuming you left it on Auto when you last shut the car off (with the same key).

While the A/C is "on" it doesn't necessarily blow cold air (i.e., when it is cold out, like it is getting to be here in NYC), it is just on and ready to blow cold air, if needed, to regulate the temp in the car to the auto temp setting....

Oh well, at least I got an update but still gotta deal with the annoyance of turning off A/C everytime. Hey your name sounds familiar, weren't you bidding on my Black Y-Spoke Style 214 wheels on eBay? I can't believe they sold for $400 OVER the buy-it-now price. I guess some people loved the powder coated look. Anyway, welcome to the forum!
Yeah~ I was bidding your item~lol. Wow it's suprise to see you~
I think the auction ended over $3800, isn't it?
I still looking for oem wheels.^^

folks, don't be confused... "A/C" is not meant just to provide cold air.... it's an air compressor... and can/should be used to help remove moisture from inside the vehicle and particularly helpful when it's raining outside and preventing fogging from occuring on the windshield. it can be on WITH hot air... and many times should be. too many people think it's just related to 'cold' air... and that is not true.

In fact, I prefer to leave the A/C on in my car all year. Through New York winters and all as it effectively controls the moisture in the air.

Beat me to it. Marcx5 is correct. Humidity control.

The reserve was $2500, buy-it-now was $3200 and ended up selling for $3607. I didn't know that was even possible lol.
