IDrive dead for 5 minutes, then normal?

Been looking to see if this is a problem experienced elsewhere so far without luck. 07 X5 4.4.

Started up Friday morning (it did start), and a "SOS" appeared in the dash warning screen with a line through it, looked over at the main display and it was black. Further checking showed radio out, phone, display dark, car running. I think the "no SOS" was telling me that the BMW Assist was out, it didn't seem to notice everythying was out.

Was late for an appointment so I drove anyway. Figured maybe a fuse was blown and would check later.

After about 5 minutes, maybe 10, just suddenly everything comes on - display lights, map shows my home for a few minutes then centers, radio comes blaring on. No errors shown on the service displays.

Since then working fine.

Any similar issues? Advice? I hate to take it to the dealer when it is now working, that's just a wasted day.

I've had the same thing happen. Only went out for 3 or 4 minutes. Ever since that one time, its been fine.

I agree, hate taking it to the dealer. Never can reproduce problems on the dealer's lot.

I don't know if this is going to help you but here's the info on my repair order.

In my case the MOST BUSS went down completely but would come back up after a while. Then it would go down again. During the testing process in the shop the MOST BUS went down the fault was set and the CCC went down.

The problem was isolated as follows..................

"Looked for SIB and found SIB 65 06 07. Performed the SIB and ran the test plan. As per test plan the CCC needs to be replaced.

Submit TC Puma case #xxxxxxxx as per puma needs to replace.

Replaced CCC Control Unite.

Programed vehicle with progman V27

Regards.......
