IDRIVE delay?

Is there a delay when selecting menu items with IDrive? Sometimes I have to wait 10 seconds for the computer to move to the next menu item.

probably not. Maybe the computer is synching your phone contacts, which can slow down the system, or loading traffic information, or routing the navi if you have it set. But even with all that, 10 seconds is too long. I'd give a call to the dealer, if they don't know the answer bring it in if you want/can.

My I drive takes as long as 20 seconds to work after starting the X5 initially...including the backup camera, which makes it functionally worthless. BMW tells me this is normal, and I should get used to it. Sounds more like KIA than BMW.

Highly dependent on how much is in your phone to sync.

So IDrive can't multi-task

Does it to me too. ...I don't think it's ever taken 10 seconds.

Honda's NAVI takes around 15 seconds before it can be used. If I start the car and switch in reverse right, the camera takes 5-10 seconds to initialize...
