Sound system mods/upgrades in your E70?

Hey guys,

I've read a few posts/threads about the sound system in the E70 not living up to its expectations. I have the premium sound, but still feel as if something is missing.

Has anyone added sub's to their X5? If so what kind and size did you go with? I'd really like to keep trunk space, as I like to put my bike in the back (when the seats are folded down).

I'm thinking that more than likely by the summertime I will be going insane with the stero that's in there now. This is the longest a stock system has lasted in a car. Also, anyone that's had "bigger" systems in their vehicles, how's your hearing? (yes, I'm serious)

Thanks!

Sandy

not to sound like a sales person..but check the BSW's Mobile Electronics section.. they discuss this in more detail..

there are a few options.... one is obviously to go with bigger, badder sound system that requires modification to your vehicle..(which will also void warrantee)

the second, and more popular option is swapping out the stock speakers for better ones of the similar size.....

Polk Audio or MB Quarts are popular alternatives...in addition to the BSW Stage 1 speaker upgrade kit that will be available for the E70 soon!!

I personally am considering MB Quarts for the doors and dash....and plan on leaving the stock amp alone...(I believe this to be the less expensive and more effective option)

I second BSW. I don't have the premium sound and am curious how their new E70 Stage1 will sound. I like thier pnp and impedance matching. I just got thier stage 1 for my e46m3..I'm running my own W7 sub.

I also considered installing the premium sound, as I've done HK swaps into non-hk cars, but not sure if it's as simple with a DSP equipped X5...I'll have to do research. In addition, I haven't heard the premium sound, so I'm not sure it's worth the swap....certainly you can get better sound aftermarket, but I usually like to keep the car oem-like as much as possible.
