Rattling Noise in rear while driving? *SOLVED*

does anyone have like rattling noise coming from the back when you drive ?? sounds like something is loose.

UPDATE: Turns out the rattling came from the latch that holds the trunk down. The bolts were completely loose causing the latch to move around, In fact one of the bolts came out! No wonder I was having such a hard time closing the trunk lately. So it wasn't the seatbelts or toneau cover. Going to take mine in to get fix tomorrow.

Do you have 3rd row seats ? If not, look under the trunk cover...

check the 'tonneau' cover that hides sorted items. it can be removed.

I had the same problem. It's more likely the hard plastic surfaces rubbing against each other on the rear panels. My tech put thin felt tape on the rear hatch covers where the fuse box is and the other side removable panel both on the right and left side and behind the plastic pieces on the split rear door that rest against the rear door. He pretty well removed and stripped the rear hatch and put felt tape behind all the trim pieces. All gone except for one small creek which I think is coming from the leather seats resting against the trim.

i meant 'stored' items. it is that plastic cover behind 2nd row that you pull straight out to cover things in the trunk area. i dont find it too useful as it uses up space and if you have rear tint its tough to see items inside anyway.
its a clumsy contraption that rattles in our X. it can be removed. watch
out for scratching trim when removing.
i dont know if all X70s have it.

I use the cover all the time so I do not think I will remove it, although I've always used it and never noticed the noise. Actually come to think of it, I think i Just figured out the noise. It might be the 3rd row seatbelts banging against the panels. The clips that hold the seatbelts were ripped off due to curious family members checking out my car and wondering what they were. I"ll double check and confirm tomrrow.

I hear a noise when the cover is not extended. I don't have the third row seats.
