Switch "Auto" on so that it's controlling fan speed and AC should be on. Then press the snowflake to put the AC off. If you switch off the car then switch it back on, then the AC should be off.

That works but What I was initially refering to was the AC and the fan. The entier unit off, not just the compressor.

so if you press the low speed button all the way till the entire unit goes off, It will come back on again when you restart. That is what I dont like.

I'm with you on this one buschy, and I understand what everyone else is saying.

But someone made a post saying that if they have it off when they turn off the car, it's also off when they turn it back on. I wonder if they're referring to just the ac being off, or everything being off. If the latter is the case, that's what we're looking to accomplish.

gmoney , they are talking about the AC compressor.
I am talking about the eniter HVAC unit being off. I see no fix ? that sucks its a very stupid thing to happen. 75k/$ and the car cant remmer that I dont want the AC, fan on , jeez

All of my previous BMW's have done this,

a bit annoying I know. But my a/c is really never off anyway.
