Hi Sam,
That colour is named Rubinschwarz or Ruby Black. It isn't red but, depending on the amount of sunlight, rather dark purple. The overall impression you get from it is black but it is a really interesting colour. It comes from the Individual line and I have this colour on my M6 convertible. I've attached a picture for reference. The pictures don't do the colour any justice. One really has to see this in the flesh. I considered going for Ruby Black on the X5 as well but my wife didn't want to as we already had this colour on the M6 and she wanted something different for her ride. It does look nice on the X5 in combination with the Ferric Grey rims. PS: I signed up for a 599 today (not for an F430). Now the waiting begins. 24 long months which may be shortened to 18 if I'm lucky.
