Taking the Key out after Ignition

Hey guys, when i was at the dealership the sales rep went through the functions one of which fell through the cracks. He showed me a way to remove the key from the keyhole and leave the car running while as he said run inside a store to grab something quickly and not leave the key in the ignition. I do not have comfort access. If i remember it correctly it was something like turn the car on, turn it off and turn it on again within 10 seconds or something. If anyone has any clues i would really appreciate it.
