Any regrets about getting a 2008 X5 since the X6 is right around the corner?

Just curious if anyone out there is having second thoughts about there 2008 X5 4.8 purchase or is still debating on going through with their 2008 X5 4.8 purchase since the X6 is right around the corner. Someone at work who has a deposit on the X6 asked me the question why get a 2008 X5 if you dont get 3rd row seats when the X6 will have a larger engine possibly twin turbo, will have better gas mileage, and Dynamic Performance Control so I thought I would ask the forum to get everyones opinion.

I'm trying not to think about. I think I did the right thing getting the E70. I said I was going to wait for the X6 but it didn't feel like things were falling into place. I will get the X6, just not the first one off the line. I don't want to be a test dummy and pay a premium for being one.

No regrets here. The X5 when originally conceived was a bit of a departure from the the SUV trend. The 6 continues that movement, but for my needs, goes a bit too far. I think the X6 is a hybrid that I just don't need. The X5 fits a niche between SUV and sports car--if I want something sportier, I go for a M3 or a 335xi (since I live in Denver)--if I want something more rugged, I would look at a RangeRover. The X6 just doesn't fit in the middle for what I want.

No regrets at all. The X5 4.8i is definitely satisfying all my needs in a "sporty SUV".

Would like to be able to look at 335xi or 5-series next year...

X5 looks about 100x better then the X6.

The X6 with its shape has no room for everyday-life practicality. I really don't like bubble cars to begin with. The styling of the X5 is way ahead on the chart plus you can actually put lots of stuff in there with the seats folded like any SUV.

I don't know if it really needs to be said but they are made for different markets/needs. I just wish they threw the X6 engine in the X5 since it's already available.
