2007 X5 4.8 Surges when first started

First, understand I live in Florida where a "cold start" is about 70F.

After about 6000 miles when I first start, the car surges badly if I try to drive away. If I wait 30 seconds after starting, it is fine. When I say surge, I mean shakes passenger type surge, not just a little uneven.

It's perfect at all other times.

Dropped at dealer overnight so they could see, they say "it's the injector blowers [or something like that] on the 4.8, you need to wait a bit after starting when it gets cold". I reminded them it was Florida.

I'm never a patient person, I head out to lunch (it's not just morning), start the car and go to back out -- surge, shake, surge... annoying.

Anyone else have this? Or are other X5 drivers more patient.

PS. This was non-existent until about 5-6000 miles. The dealer claims it is because now it is winter here, and temperatures have dropped. Dropped all of maybe 10-15F. I think it changed.

The Owner's manual says - "start the engine and drive off right away" (or something like that). No need to "warm up" the engine.

You might want to locate that in the manual and show it to the service department. What you experience is "not normal" IMHO.

My 07 X5 4.8

Mine also does this and it does not at all seem dependent on weather. Has been in a number of times for this and they maintain that no fault codes so no problem. From other posts, seems like a transmission issue exists with some of the 07s.
