Have you seen the Brushed Aluminium ones (both window surrounds and rails)? IMHO they look wicked.

I never understood why BMW releases certain apperance options exclusively in 1 country over another.

Yeah, I know, we can't even get the SD engine option. I'm waiting for the diesel... The worst part is they all come from the U.S.

Nice Spec,
Given all the options why not also get HUD. I got it and it is by far one of the best options I chose. Espically with the Sat Nav you never need to take you eyes of the road.
I've got the Brushed Aluminium on mine but everyone has their prefered look.
Good luck

@ Fastbuck - I have seen the brushed alu trim and whilst IMO it looks great on dark coloured cars, I do feel the black look is more elegant on the lighter ones and feels the right move for an M-Sport. All previous M cars I have owned (including 2 M3's) had black trim, so unsure why BMW offered alu trim only initially.

@gresch and @Craig - I feel your pain in a similar way to how we pay more for everything in the U.K.. Unsure why BMW do not standardize across the world. I'm sure it would be cheaper marketing if specs were the same.

@dwarfer - I had considered HUD. But, after working in defence for a while, I got tired of looking at HUD type displays in the software industry. I think it is a great option but, it does rely heavily on the screen being 100% correctly positioned - any movement and you may suffer double vision, blurred/out of focus display. But, you are right - the benefits outweigh the cons.

My rant: I wish the M-Sport had an option of running boards - IMO the X5 looks plain without them. The look is more rugged with them and I really would like it for our young daughter to help her step into the car.

Has anyone tried using the iPod Touch with their X5 successfully? I read so many posts about some things not working e.g. charging, playlists not working, etc.

Thanks for your comments,
av

welcome!

Hi AV,, i have asked the question as i have bought an ipod touch 16gb for my x5 and am busy filling it with albums, i have also read that there was an issue with the new gen of ipods but aparently the problem was with the cable, i think this has been sorted now! if not i still have my trusty nano black to go in there!

@whoopy-do - Yes, I have read the cable from BMW will resolve the issue. However, after specifying the USB/iPod connectivity I cannot see how BMW warrant charging extra for the cable (although, I convinced the dealer to gift this to me ).

I have also read of people upgrading software in their cars and iPods - unsure why such effort is required to make an existing product work.

Anyway, just my two pennies worth. Happy motoring to all and any ideas would be appreciated.

I just found out our vehicle is being built in week 4 for delivery 2nd or 3rd week in March

av

Update on order...

I have just been informed by the new car sales manager, our order has gone into production... roll-on March 2008

I have noticed quite a few people taking delivery of their vehicles in London - mainly SE's. I have yet to see an M-Sport on the roads although, I saw the M-Sport of the manager in Black - luscious indeed.

Thanks,
av
