Anyone expereincing the same ?? want to hear from you !!

Is anyone experiencing this odd hollow 'roar' from the front tyre area (sounds a bit like when you blow air over the top of an open pipe). My E70 is on run flat 275 front & 315 rear tyres but this is an odd type of noise to be from the tyres. I have had the car checked at the dealers and their put it down to tyre / road roar but I'm not sure !!
Does anyone else hear this noise which is usually between 20 - 70 mph and the noise only changes slightly with different road surfaces - as I say I can only best describe it as the sound made when you blow air over the top of an open pipe. It cannot be wind noise as the noise is no louder at 20mph as it is at 60mph !!
Any help would be appreciated
Happy New Year all !!

Some others here have commented on a "hollow" noise that probably emanates from the run flats. I've got the basic 18's and don't hear any noise. I do think the ride can be improved with non-run flats, and as soon as these tires show wear, it's good bye to runflats for me.

No, sorry, I don't hear anything unusual from any of the tires. Have you examined the tires for bubbles/ imperfections?

Hey there Nick... I know you've read my thread already, but I too hear a trumpet like noise, but to me, it doesn't seem as if it's coming from the tires.

I notice it mostly when I haven't been driving the car for a long time yet... I hear it when the RPM's are climbing, but there are times I hear it too as I'm driving at a constant speed.

In my case, I hear it only from the driver front side. Does this sound familiar?

Check tire pressures. Anything less than the nominal stated by BMW will create noise. I keep mine at exactly what is stated. In my case (20inch) at
2.4kpa front/rear and everything is smooth....

Hi gmoney
Yes that sounds exactly right - and I only hear it from the driver front side too !! My X5 is currently back at the dealership while they investigate this, but get the feeling this noise is common to all E70's on 20' run flats !!
Whats your thoughts ???
