parking brake failure?
![]() Just wanted to share with you that i had a problem today, and the car had a parking brake failure and just stoped and i couldn't move the car. i called BMW assist and they told me that i had to de-activate the hand brake manually by pulling something from the trunck (which i did) the car can be driven now but the parking failure message still appears and it would have to be reprogramed. i just need to know if it is okay to drive the car while the handbrake is de-activated, and i just need to be sure that no problems will arise by drive it. Thanks

Parking Brake Failure
I experienced the same thing. It's safe to drive it, but make sure you put the car in "P" (park) when you are ready to exit the car. Also make sure you park on a flat, level surface. Took it the dealer and they said that they had to replace some kind of "controller module" that had failed. They didn't have the part in stock, but only took them about a day to get it. They provided me with a loaner. After getting and installing the part, they had to re-program, which was good because now I have the latest version that provides camera and PDC when backing up.
