from what I recall seeing from other BMW models, it's a black/white contrast thing and indeed you don't really have to take your eyes off the road too much. FLIR in choppers are the same thing (except maybe greener )

While it is a cool feature I wouldn't pay extra for it unless it was an available option for maybe $500... not anywhere near $5k.

arent the BMW versions integrated into the HUD?

think of the advantage of being able to see a police car way up ahead with all his lights off... but the engine still warm....

probably not the best use of this technology....
