Aftermarket pads for brake dust?

I have no personal experience with them, but I have hear reports that they reduce cooling of the brake discs and therefore manufacturers recommend against using them.

I suppose it depends on a person's braking style, the climate the vehicle is run in, and the roads driven. An aggressive driver that drives mountain roads in the Southwest in the Summer might have an issue with them.
