E70 Sports Package Firmness??

Hi Guys,

I currently have an '06 4.4 with Sports Pkg., and I find it to be more firm (actually a lot more choppy) than I would like after having had it for a while. Not sure if I should get the new E70 4.8 with Sports Pkg. or not ... any suggestions?

Does the E70 have a more supple ride? Does the EDS compensate for the firmer package? Thanks for all the help!

Mike

Comparing my 08 E70 to my brother's '06 4.4 (with sports package, too), I can tell that E70 is generally softer in "normal" mode, and more firmer in the "sport" mode - very close to the E53.

The Sports Pkg is the one option I'd recommend over any other and that's not because its a bimmer and you want "rail-like" handling.

The Sports Pkg (namely, Adaptive Drive) actually has a much more supple ride than the non-sports models.

I know it sounds crazy, but I drove both models for extended periods and you feel every bump in the road without the Sports Pkg.

If possible try to drive both models on the highway and backroads. Good luck!

Go sports mode ... handling is better and the "option" you have in choosing ride quality is a good option to have.

Thanks for the replies ... it sounds like I better order the sports package. Now, a follow-up. I have already decided to get the active ventilated seats, probably in sand beige perforated leather. How will the anthracite headliner look with the beige leather; provided the exterior is space gray?

Will this color pallette look OK, or too much of a mish-mash? Does anyone have photos of this combo?

Thanks again,
Mike

I was not keen on the black headliner but wanted the rest of the Sports package. Dealer was unable to delete only that element. I really quite like it now that I have it and I thinks as a combo it works well.

Question: I have sport but also have the 3d row seat with the load leveling suspension. Is this set up different than just sport and, if so, what is the difference.

I know what you mean. I still have an 01 4.4 with Sports Package as well as a new 4.8 with the Sports Package. The newer car is much more supple and makes the old one feel, well, harsh and unrefined. I do think turn in on the old model is superior- you're just moving that much more mass and they seemed to have softened the sway bar settings (or the size) but overall the new one is just much, much nicer.

For me the sports package is a must have. You won't regret getting it it at all.
