Aftermarket exhausts?

Hi everyone. I'm a new member and have an '08 4.8 on order, in Space Grey/Black. It's got a Feb production date, and I'm very excited about the car. I'm a long time BMW owner, and have had a bunch in the past (e30 M3 w/s14, e30 M3 w/s52, e60 M5, and e46 M3 w/ VFE SC).

I'm looking forward to the new car, but haven't been impressed by the factory exhaust system. It's too tame for me (probably perfect for most of the customers), due to the fact that none of my cars have been quiet. And it has a V8 that needs to be heard!

I know that there are only a few options for exhausts out there, but haven't read anything/seen a review or pics of them on any X5s here. I am interested in the Eisenmann, because my friend has one on his e53 4.6is and it sounds awesome!!!!!! If I can get that sound, sign me up.

Just wanted to know what's out there or available.

TIA!

-Harold

Congratulations on your vehicle, I too am interested in the Eisenmann exhaust system. If you do decide to install it let me know how your experience goes. In regards to other manufacturers, REMUS and SUPERSPRINT is now available, and DINAN when they produce one.

I had Eisenmanns installed on my M6........sad, but we sold it in October. The sound is intoxicating; especially when you step on it.

My 4.8 E70 was delivered 30th December. I dread the sound of the exhaust system; it sounds so metallic; very unlike any BMW that I've driven so far. However, I'd probably not go for the Eisenmanns because IMHO, the E70 is more a family orientated car and not one that needs to be heard.

I'd like to swap those metallic sounding things for something with less treble; really silent mufflers would be great for me.

I know what you mean, my M5 also had an exhaust and it was music to my ears. But then I totaled it.

Eisenmann does make the exhaust in two levels, race and sport. Sport tends to be on the quiet side, but I don't know how it'll sound on the X5.

You could always replace the center resonator with a smaller muffler. I know that e53 4.4/4.6/4.8 guys this.
