Fuel mileage

I was curious what fuel mileage the 3.0 is city and highway. I'm waiting for the diesel, but a friend of mine doesn't think it's worth the extra money for fuel as well as what BMW will want over the gas 3.0...

BMW is rating the diesel at 19 MPG city 25 MPG highway.

BTW, I'm going to order the diesel...

Thanks,

Craig

I have the 3.0 SI and get about 12/13 city and 17/18 highway, not very good really. I generally use 89 octane. (car has 3400 miles). I have not tried 91 octance for an extended period, that may help a bit, but don't think it is really worth the increase in cost. The car runs fine on 89.

I have the 3.0 and get around 17 combined city/hwy. The computer says 19 but it's actually lower. Not bad for a big vehicle. I only use premium as recommended by BMW.

I have actually found out that the increased fuel economy i get with premium MORE than pays for the price difference.

Also, I suspect these fuel economy numbers will increases once the car has several thousand miles on it.

In addition, I actually find the new EPA ratings to be too low. The combined mileage on my 330 under the new ratings is 20 MPG, but I actually get 24 MPG.

Vehicle just likes to drink gas, seems to me wherever I go I am always at half tank by the time I get home (4.8, mostly city driving, and 583 miles).

Ditto - about 2/3 highway and 1/3 city through 450 miles.
