my X is MIA

So since a NYC and Philly person with same build dates have gotten their cars already, I started wondering where mine was. My dealer calls me today and says it's still not here. Today is Saturday - MWares' arrived at his dealer on Thursday and he's only about 30-50 miles away from me. I think someone from Boston is getting theirs soon too. Since it's the weekend and the port is closed, my guy can't call and find out where it is. What could've happened between NYC and LI (nassau county) that it still does not show 2 days later? The production dates were the same. What's worse is that my dealer's system said it was supposed to arrive 1/22 (Tuesday). Could it have had some problems at the prep center and they had to hold it back for fixes that take time?

Now I gotta wait till Monday to even find out if it's on its way. OC still said prep center this afternoon still but we know that's completely unreliable.

or it was "randomly selected" for a complete review?? Do they do that? Or maybe the transport truck was full and they had to wait for another one that was late?
It could be anything, and probably nothing to worry about.

That is kinda strange that it's taking so long. We ordered a couple days apart and I've had mine now for a week.

Also MIA

Likewise, my build was finished on Jan 18. Dealer says BMW says it will be at dealer on Mon (1/28), but who knows. He said that another X5 that was also due at the dealer on Fri (1/25) actually arrived the day before. Strange. I agree that there was either an issue identified at the Prep Center or there is some random check process. (Although I'd be surprised if a random check process hit 2 of 4 vehicles that were being discussed on this board as imminent deliveries...)

Same Experience

FWIW, the same thing happened with the delivery of my '07 X5 in September. It arrived several days later than it was supposed to and even the dealer could not "find it" during the 2-3 day interval. Kind of a mystery....

I know how it feels... went thru the same thing with my prior car. It was MIA for 2 weeks !

The bottom line - you will get it. It can not be sold to anyone else (if you are worrying the dealer will pull bait-n-switch on you) as you have the VIN number and can potentially track it thru the DMV and other agencies.

rh71,
I wouldn't worry about it too much. You will get it soon enough.

And hey, if there was a slight problem, it's better to have it resolved BEFORE you get it.

How'd your pickup go yesterday? Surprised no update yet.

My pickup on Friday went great! Thanks for asking. The team at Orange County BMW did a great job to make sure the process went smoothly.

As far as an update goes, I haven't had any time. I have been out driving too much. I spent most of the day Saturday driving around the Hudson Valley and making road trips to New Jersey and such. I put over 250 miles on the car in less than two days.

For my 250 mile review, I have to say this car is great. The drive is smooth. I have to repeat myself and say that the Space Gray is absolutely stunning and I have gotten many compliments on it. I keep on catching my one neighbor staring at it in the driveway.

They just got it in this morning. You told me there'd be nothing to worry about.
