just 2 days old and i have a few k(nicks)...

...on the front passenger door. 2 or 3 inches below the '3.0d' sign. though i am a little pissed, these sorts of things are inevitable.

i guess some rocks frew off from the tyre and hit the door? if so will mudflaps do the job? i've seen a couple x5s with them and i don't like them too much.

do any members here have nicks in that area?

thanks!

Agreed, mudflaps do work. Actually, I had them on all my previous cars, but only on the E70 they actually provide protection (in addition to good looks).

No nicks in that area, but I have mudflaps front and rear.
Lots of small nicks in the areas near the foglights though, probably unavoidable.

anyone thought about covering all the metal panels of the car with 3m scotchguard? might be expensive though.

I put about 1400 miles on mine at the Xmas break and after, when I detailed it I saw several (some large) marks on the paint that I will have to buff out, but no chips.

I don't think I can do mudflaps - but maybe i'll reconsider.
