I-drive while vehicle is off?

Just picked up my X (pics coming tomorrow)... when going over everything, the dealer stated that you should have the vehicle started when messing with i-drive options because it drains the battery extremely quickly. Is this your experience?

I've played with it for about 30 minutes numerous times without having the engine on and never had a problem. There is an auto shut down every 15 minutes or so however.

Cool

Congrats! Sort of off-topic.... I asked my sales guy at BMW about the X6 just a while back (when It was clear BMW would produce the vehicle) He remarked that I was crazy and there would never be such a vehicle. It seems some of theses sales guys are clueless and mostly concentrate on selling/closing deals on high-end cars IMO.

Congrats ! Dont worry about playing with it for a while, because it is winter and you will want to run that engine anyway to keep your butt warm

The dealers are more careful about the cars than usual. Better to be safe than sorry.

> It seems some of theses sales guys are clueless

Sometimes it's because they are clueless, but many times it is simply because they want to sell what they have, or can get. It doesn't put money in the salesman's pocket to provide information that encourages you to delay a purchase.

And yes, I know that in the long run it would be better to cultivate a customer with accurate information, but in a lot of these places salesmen come and go (not as much in most BMW dealerships as some other brands, but still higher than most other occupations), and the salesman might be gone to greener pastures by the time a new model comes out.
