Sat Nav 2008-1

Hi there,

Am new to site, and have tried to search for what I am looking for, but can't seem to find it. I understand that for most of you this is not relevant, as your car is supplied with sat nav software, but here in Ireland it must be purchased seperately, and so the question:

What version of sat nav software is compatible with a 2008 X5.

From having googled etc, I think that it is a navteq 2008-1 disc, but there seem to be 2 versions Pro and High. Can anyone tell me which version is the right one for my car??

Cheers

I picked up my new X5 2 weeks ago in McKeons in Kells, and the dealer threw me in a 2007-2 DVD with the car.

When I was shopping around for my X5 in Dublin I asked the dealers about this and they all said it would cost an additional €400 for the DVD.

This is an absolute scandel - we pay over €3000 for the SAT Nav only to be told that we have to shell out an additional €400 to make it work.

BMW Ireland need to get their finger out and sort this out!

BMW Ireland is a subsidiary of BMW UK, and they give the DVD's out with new cars, this all sounds like a bit of a scam to me.

Pro is what you need for E70.

Im a bit disapointed with the sat nav, mainly due to not being able to input full post codes. I am sure I heard that other BMW sat nav's mk4 etc had an update allowing full postcode input. I can't be sure if I read it right but if so that makes the unit in the e70 very poor. Anyone know of any future updates planned to fix this?

The same situation is in Baltic states... I was very surprised when dealer ask aprox. EUR 500 for NAVI disc (which still doesn't work in Poland and Baltic States)... Our Mercedes dealer in this case are much better...

I think they are about to come out with the 2008 disk for the US, so if you wait, e-bay will have several of them (including mine!)
