Current Special on 3.0 X5? Is it because of the Twiin Turbo?
I ordered a 4.8 and a 3.0 with identical configurations but now with the $2500 factory rebate the 3.0 is much more attractive financially. But I am suspicious that the reason for the incentive on the 3.0 is that the TT will be released right away. It would seem logical that since the Z4 and X6 both have the TT 6cyl, that from a supply chain perspective it would not make a lot of sense to have a separate 6cyl motor specifically for the X5 (since all three autos are assembled in SC). Anyone have any insight into this?

The Z4 has still got 2 more years of lifecycle no?
The Spartanburg plant wouldn't use one kind of 3.0 engine if the X5 went 3.0TT. The plant exports to all markets (worldwide) that get Z4's, X5's & X6's. So everything from 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder diesels and M engines go through it. Not that the X5TT isn't around the corner. I have no idea on that, but one would assume that it isn't that far off. |

According to my dealer, the $2500 is just clearing inventory and has nothing to do with TT. He still isn't certain if that is coming in Sept or not.
Curious, does anyone know if there is Dinan mod for the 3.0? You could consider that if viable. |
