Newbie - Please Help - V1 Install & Nav/DVD in Motion

Hello All,
I finally discoverd this board after being a roadfly member for years. Getting rid of my '02 4.6is this month and getting an '08 4.8i.

I have two main questions if you could please help...

1) I had previously installed a V1 radar detector into the garage door opener/panel in my '02. Can I safely remove the splicing wire from the old car that came with the V1? Or should I order a new one? Also does anyone have step by step detailed install instructions with pictures for the new 07 or 08 model year? I am not very good at this stuff and it would really help. I just want to do the same thing and clip the V1 to my driver's sunshade and have the wire connected to the overhead console anywhere.

2) The 08 comes with a 6disc DVD instead of CD changer. You can actually watch DVD's while NOT in motion. Does anyone know how to override this or buy an add on to overide it so that you can watch in motion?

On #2: Yes, you can watch DVD's on the iDrive screen while the e70 is in park.

wonder if it works for US versions? Can someon buy one for me and ship it to me? they wont sell to me

Welcome! I'll be picking up my 4.8 this friday, can't wait!

In terms of the V1: did you install the power using the supplied T-tap? If you did, then it's fully reversible:
-unclip the power adapter from the t-tap.
-using a small flat screwdriver (eyeglasses sized) unclip the t-tap on the car's harness. There's a small clip that secures the t-tap closed.
-install the V1 in your e70 using this DIY that KEF put together:

Why won't they sell it to you? Did they give a reason? Because I was wondering the same thing and would love to have that in the e70, just to entertain everyone else.

I just assume they wont cause I am in the US, and there are no options to ship it here.

I really, really appreciate everybody's responses to my questions especially Harold C's link to KEF's install for the V1.

This board rocks...

My 2nd questions still remains however since us USA guys cant order those parts from Europe.... how do we watch TV/DVD's while the car is in drive and not in park? In Europe supposedly that block has been removed as a standard. Is there some OEM BMW plug in or even aftermarket install that allows us USA guys to remove the block and watch DVD's from the changer while not in park?
