I'm planning to install monitors either in the headrests or resting on top. The latter will be hard to make look good but then again I'm not cutting into the headrest. I did it on my Tahoe years ago but I wasn't as concerned with the costs of replacement if I screwed up like I am with the X5.
Has anyone cut into them and installed monitors? Did you remove them or just do it in the car? Since they are electronically controlled I assume they are a pain to remove but if not too bad I'd consider since the install of the monitors would be easier. Has anyone used another method to install flush to the headrests instead? I was thinking a custom mount lined in leather/vinyl to match but I doubt my upholstery skills are up to the task.
Any additional ideas would be appreciated.
