Rubbing noise

Hi, has anyone had this happen to their e70? I have an 2008 X5 3.0 that periodically during low speeds (turning into a parking space speeds), it seems my steering is rubbing against something. It happens a few times a week, then stops for a while.

I took it to the dealer and couldn't reproduce it with the tech inside the car. It actually happened when I pulled into the dealer's lot. Felt like my car is teasing me.

Hi

Yes, my 2009 3.0d has the same "rubbing" noise, and also not constant. It sounds like its originating from underneath the steering.

Yep, I've got the same issue on my 2010 3.5d. It's been getting louder. Really annoying. Let me know if you guys get it resolved.

I have that as well on 35d. Think it might have something to do when you first apply the brakes when nearly coming to a stand still, then releasing the pedal and turning into a driveway, its strange!

Yeah, happens almost always in parking lots/garages/driveways for me. The brakes squeal like a banshee when cold too. Really annoying noises!

Well i thought they would hear the noise and of course they didn't!!

i was pissed that they didnt call me and let me know. all they said was the car was ready. i went to pick it up and when i looked at the invoice it said "noise was not found". i went out with the foreman for a drive around few parking lots but of course the damn steering wheel wouldnt make the noise..he asked me when exactly it happens: morning, cold, hot, after running for a duration etc.im not sure exactly myself now.. i told me ill get back to him....I cant believe it!!!

Had this same problem. Dealer fixed it under warranty - said it was a dry bush / rubber ring that needed lubricant. They knew what it was straight away after I described the problem so must be fairly common issue.
