X5 3.0sd Brakes

Hi,

Thought you might be interested there in the States that the sd here in Australia comes with bigger brakes. When put against the V8 X5 brakes there about 1" larger in diameter and same for the rear.

PS. I am running 20" wheels

And you can also get the 20" wheels on the 3.0, unlike here in the states where you would need to buy the 4.8 and then add the sport package and then add the 20" wheels.

At first I thought my dealer was trying to pull a fast one on me saying a 17" winter setup wouldn't work for the wife's X3 sd. Turns out the rotors are bigger.

y5choi - Are you having problems keeping your wheels and interior clean? Just noticed your other post and was interested.

Probably has to do with the Energy Recirculation in the E70 app.

This is because of the SD's higher performance. Are you sure the V8 brakes are smaller?

v8 breaks are not smaller than that. 3.0si may be smaller.

V8's brakes are larger than the 3.0. maybe the same as the SD. 4.8i- front 348mm, rear-345mm. 3.0si front-332mm, rear- 320mm

Good question on keeping the wheels clean. I tried to get mine 100% clean the other day, and already have some black spots on the inside flat surface of the rim. Probably some minor rock chips damage which then 'holds' the brake dust. Hence these black dots are very diificult to remove. I once heard you can use some sort of clay to get these spots off, but haven't tried that yet. The good thing is that these dots are only visible when you stick your nose almost through the rim spokes
