I put my new 3.0sd up against a new V8 at the dealership last Friday and the V8 rotors are smaller and also the calipher and brake pad is smaller.
It also might have something to do with the sports pack and the bigger wheels as well, not sure, but they are pretty big. The normal 70 3.0d has smaller brakes than the V8 as I have owned one of those last year.
