It's here - custom build in 11 calendar days?
My wife just called me to say that the X5 we ordered on 2/21 arrived at the dealership today. I had registered the vehicle on the Owners Circle site and it shows the car at the 'Preparation Center'. I'll have to check VINs, but is it realistic to think they can build and deliver that fast?

In any case we'll be picking it up on Wednesday (if it's the right one)...

The X5s are mass produced and so it only takes a few days to actually build the car once there is a chassis assigned and hence a VIN number.

That's pretty fast but it can happen. Especially if you ordered very popular options. I've heard of cars with popular options being built faster, but it is an illusion. What usually happens is that a dealer has an allotment that they've already ordered and it closely matches what you want (or exactly matches) and they bump you up in line, replacing their allotted car with yours (since it is already sold, this is in the dealer's best interest to do this).
