It's really not important but, I would be interested to know, where does it say that? It does not work for my BlackBerry or RAZR V3. BMW only supports narrow phones?

I do know that it says that, but I don't remember where. I'll try to find it.
Maybe the "skinny" phones that don't have bluetooth that need to be on hand and ready; and BMW assumes modern smartphones have bluetooth and thus do not need to be readily available?
