I would get a 4.8i, premium sound, and multi-contour seat.

The only option I didn't get that I kinda wish I did is the auto tail gate. I have an E53 (until the end of the month anyway!) also and the tail gate on it is quite different. After using my new E70 for a couple of weeks the tail gate is different and I think in retrospect the auto tail gate would be a useful (and cheap!) option to have.

I might have also skipped getting the running boards... I didn't get the 20s and without them the running boards make my 19 inch wheels look kind of wimpy.

No regrets with my purchase, however I wish I would have been able to wait untill later this year to get the better engines.

Yes, I will probably be saying the same thing in 8 months. But at least it's 8 months.

Hey Bimmerfan,

I can honestly say that will all my options and packages, upgraded wheels/tires...that the Auto tail-gate is the feature I use the most, and am most happy to have (and it's so cheap compared to other features!)

The tailgate on the E53 was better, IMO. I had a 2004 X5 4.4i and a 2004 4.8is.

No regrets with the 3.0si [Premium/Sports/Tech/Side Shades/USB Audio]. I just wish you could get the auto-tailgate as well as the 20" Y-spoke wheels (on the V6) as factory options in Canada.

I'm very pleased with my choices: 08 3.0si, Monaco Blue Metallic, Tabacco Nappa Leather, Dark Burl Walnut, Packages: premium package, premium sound, tech, comfort seats, ipod, HUD, HD radio.

I don't think I really need any of the other options. The color and interior are really stunning looking. The premium sound is probably my favorite in that our 05 x5 didn't have that so I really appreciate the difference. The HUD is so helpful. The seats are like barkaloungers and are really comfortable. The backup camera is really helpful in seeing where you're going! Of course the ipod connector is so convenient. No more plugging the cassette in my tape player to connect to my speakers and I'm rid of all the wires. Still haven't had time to set up the AM/FM stations so have only listened a little to HD radio. At just over 500 miles, so far I'm delighted and very happy with my choices.

I love the Deep Green / Beige Nappa / Bamboo color combo. It's very unique, and the green is gorgeous under light, so I wouldn't change that. In fact, I don't think I've seen another single Deep Green X5.

However, I would probably have waited for the 3.0d to come to the US, and we would've milked the RX330 for a little longer. The 4.8i is awesome, but it sucks a heinous amount of fuel, so the 3.0d would've been a welcome improvement--especially because it's not at all down on acceleration/passing power.

What V6? I didn't know they made an X5 V6.
