Interesting that the 9500ci does not sound any better than 9500i (someone had claimed it would be) and the 9500ci seems to have the same inners as the Bel STI.
Although Radar Roy does sell Escort products, he is considered one of the most trusted thrid party radar detector testers out there. He sells almost all legitimate brands of radar detectors. I guarantee follow up tests will support his results.

In addition, Roy consistently posts test videos and gives lengthy test explanations, which is more than can be said for most other testers.

To compare the 9500ci to the Sti or the 9500i is to ignore its combination of features. The 9500i does not even compare to the 9500ci because it is dash mount, it is Spectre Detectable, and it has not laser protection. These two detectors are on a whole different level. The benefit of the remote mount not only adds to detector performance, but combined with undetectability, it will save you tickets from POP radar, which is geared specifically at radar detector users. Just the other day I came over a hill in my wife's car, which has a Bel rx65, and a cop POPed me before I could even discern his car model. He had a Spectree Detector Detector and he knew exactly when I would come over that hill. Fortunately I was not speeding because someone the other way flashed his brights at me!

This situation would not occur with the help of eiether Bel STi or 9500ci. I don't think it is far off to say this radar detector will take years to beat. The comination of performance, false alert elimination, Traffic Camera Detector, Undetectability, and laser jamming is absolutely unmatchable by any other comination. Even if you combine the Shifter ZR4 with the 9500i, you comprimise invisibility and some performance as well.

There is no better option.
