Bluetooth streaming without addons ? is it possible ?

I see a couple of post where people are using some bluetooth received pluged into the aux port.

Is it possible to stream bluetooth music directly into the idrive (CIC) ?

I know the latest bmw have the function, my car is a 2011 LCI X5, i wonder if I am too dumb to figure it out or if I really need to get into the Y cable + bluetooth received to get my streaming to work ...

PS: I just bought the car, I'll post pics shortly

I am answering to myself...

http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...abilities.html

sniff sniff.. my car is a very early LCI build. Production date April 29 2010 !!

So I also don't have the software update menu command..

Please can someone offer some help and get me the streaming and software update ? Does anybody knows if that is possible ? and what I would need ?

It is not life and death for me but I hate to miss on functionalities.

can you elaborate ? what is the combox ?

I mean do I have to make the whole upgrade like you did from CCC to CIC ?

That would suck..

I assume we are talking about this

ConnectedDrive Retrofits

sounds like $1000 coming out of my pocket pretty soon

Also certainly needing this to code:

BMW INPA / Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface

^^ Combox can be had for about $300 New on ebay, or about $100 used from a recycler. I just did my retrofit and even though I do my own coding, I got someone else to do the combox because its a little tricky (especially if you want BMW live and Internet).

I've been doing some reading...

Will the combox bring me more than A2DP bluetootht streaming ?

I mean, will that give me the BMW apps ? or the 'software upgrade' menu ?

live and internet would require me to do the tethering, so I am not looking into that as I am the unlimited att plan and if I modify it for tethering I'll loose it damned att scammers!

which recycler I can buy one used from ? I assume that kind of stuff either work or don't. At $100, I think worth the gamble..

You can search many recyclers using Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
Pick a 2011 - 2012 X5 and select computer box not engine. Then select communications.
