Comfort Access Behavior

Has anyone ever left with the key when the car is running? I was driving this weekend in my MB S550 with my wife. She had the key in her purse and left the car to go get a number inside a restuarant. I was to park to car when all of a sudden the info screen in the dash, turned red and informed me that the key was no longer detected! Should have drove it to figure out what would happen. But my first reaction was to simply call my wife to come back. Just curious how BMW handles this situation.

Also since the BMW keys remembers last settings via the key. What happens if both keys with different setting (using comfort access) is brought simulatenously into the car?

If someone with the key walks off, the car will continue to operate. However, once the car is shut off, it cannot be restarted. Or locked for that matter.

Yes, after 20 Sec. it will not restart. It will re-start within that 20 sec. window.

Thanxs for the info!

Does anyone know about the behavior of the memory settings if two keys are brought in at the same time?

the question was asking what happens when 2 sets of keys brought in at the same time. will the setting be conflicted to each other?

It was your wife's key which opened and started the car in the first place !

If only they can make it so that the lever cannot be shifted out of park if you run away with the key...

This would be good for running back into your house if you forgot something, or even running into a store real quick (like less than a min.)
