The issue is that EDGE is available just about everywhere (at least here in the U.S.) and 3G/UTMS is only available in metro areas. (Different is Europe?)
What would really be nice is if they could make the i-drive screen usable as an internet browser connected via bluetooth to a mobile phone.

It better be able to pair with a BT keyboard(or sport it's own). Doing anything on the net with IDrive's current text input would have me wanting to....well....I dunno....drive off a bridge or pull my fingernails out with pliers or something....Touchscreen would be fine with me.
But hey....I'm all for the internet. They need something to replace the worthless GPS. I had to use my $500 Crapple Iphone to find a freakin hospital(friend was in accident)just last weekend. I could not for the life of me find the POI search(does it have one?)....But a Crapple Iphone can find it in a quick minute.... EDGE is extremely slow...but it does work...
